Avoid Activity After Eating
It’s no shock that eating a big meal can sometimes cause nausea and vomiting. As a result, many people wait several hours after a large meal before doing anything else.
A large amount of food in your stomach might be pushing against your other organs and causing you to feel uncomfortable for a bit, but there’s so much more behind it. When you eat, your digestive system takes the food from your stomach and breaks it down into various nutrients that your body can use to function properly. This process creates byproducts called ketones, essentially waste products that need to be expelled from the body.
The problem is that if you’re doing other strenuous activities (such as playing sports or finishing an intense workout) while these ketones remain in your bloodstream, they’re very likely going to come up in other ways, one of which is through vomiting. So, by avoiding physical activity after eating, you give time for those ketones to fully enter your bloodstream and eventually make their way out of your body differently than through vomiting.
