Chamomile
Chamomile has natural anti-spasmodic and anti-inflammatory properties and a soothing aroma. These qualities make it ideal for calming an upset stomach and helping with nausea, often the primary symptom of vomiting. Chamomile flowers are easy to find in grocery and health food stores and can be used in various ways to help relieve this unpleasant condition.
The simplest way to use chamomile is to steep one or two tablespoons of dried flowers (or one heaping teaspoon of fresh flowers) in a cup of boiled water for five minutes. Let the mixture cool to room temperature, and then strain out the flowers before drinking. Chamomile tea can also be combined with peppermint or ginger tea to calm the stomach further. Chamomile’s flavor is mild and sweet, so it pairs well with other herbs.
An infusion is made by combining one chamomile flower with three parts boiling water and letting it steep for about ten minutes before straining out the flower and drinking the liquid. Some prefer this method because the infusion takes on a stronger flavor than the tea, which means you’ll get more relief without having to drink as much.
