Hydrogen Peroxide Rinse

We are all familiar with hydrogen peroxide as a household cleaner or disinfectant. However, did you know that this simple substance can also treat toothaches? Rinsing with a hydrogen peroxide solution is a popular home remedy for relieving toothache associated with dental infections.

Hydrogen peroxide is a natural bleaching agent that also happens to be antimicrobial. This means it can help kill bacteria and other microorganisms that may be causing or contributing to your toothache. Additionally, hydrogen peroxide can help break down plaque and tartar buildup on your teeth which could be causing infections and inflammation.

To use hydrogen peroxide for toothache relief, mix equal parts of 3% hydrogen peroxide solution with water. Rinse the mouth with the mixture for 30 seconds to one minute, being sure to swish it across the teeth. Rinse the mouth with plain water afterwards. Repeat this process up to three times per day until the toothache subsides.

When used as directed, hydrogen peroxide is generally safe and well-tolerated. However, some people may experience gums, lips, or throat irritation when using this home remedy. If you experience severe side effects, stop using hydrogen peroxide and see a dentist immediately.
