12 Effective Tonsil Stones Home Remedies You Should Try

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is also known in the name of melaleuca oil. This essential oil originates from the leaves of the Australian tea tree. It is typically used in treating acne, athlete’s foot, lice, insect bites, and nail fungus. This is because tea tree has antibacterial properties, effectively combating harmful bacteria.

Another condition  that tea tree oil can treat is tonsil stones. Tonsil stones originate from the accumulation of bacteria in the mouth. When tea tree oil is used, the bacteria buildup is lessened, preventing stones.

Although tea tree oil is beneficial in treating tonsil stones, diluting the essential oil before putting it in the mouth is important. Side effects may occur when concentrated tea tree oil is consumed. It may confuse, cause an inability to use and control voluntary movements, and decrease consciousness levels. However, using small amounts of tea tree oil is not harmful. Accompanied by diluting the oil, its benefits are fully maximized without experiencing side effects.

To use tea tree oil, put the diluted tea tree oil on a toothbrush. Gently brush the tonsils with it. Swishing a tablespoon of tea tree oil can also alleviate bacterial growth in the tonsils, which causes tonsil stones.
