Vicks Vapo Rub
Vicks VapoRub is a topical ointment made by Proctor & Gamble. Its ingredients include camphor, eucalyptus oil, and menthol. It also contains several active ingredients which are responsible for its benefits. Some of these are cedar leaf oil, nutmeg oil, petrolatum, Thymol, and turpentine. This is designed to rub on the throat and chest to relieve nasal congestion. Of course, this doesn’t alleviate the nasal congestion, but the strong menthol odor tricks the brain. It signals the brain by triggering the receptors that the clogged nose is now fine, which gives fine breathing.
Aside from treating symptoms of cough and colds, Vicks VapoRub is also recommended by some experts for treating toenail fungus. This is because this ointment contains antifungal active ingredients. The two active ingredients a Vicks VapoRub uses in treating toenail fungus are camphor and eucalyptus oil. It contains 4.7 percent of camphor and 1.2 percent of eucalyptus. Both ingredients are strong enough to kill fungi that cause toenail fungus. In addition, the said active ingredients could specifically destroy dermatophytes.
To use Vicks VapoRub, apply a thin layer of ointment onto the affected toenail. Do this consistently for three to four months to see its full effects.
