Oregano Oil

Oregano is commonly used as a spice for Italian dishes but has high antifungal and antimicrobial properties. Before discussing this further, it is important to clarify that the oregano oil used to treat yeast infection is not the same oregano oil (Origanum marjoram) used as a spice. Instead, patients are advised to look for wild oregano oil or Origanum vulgare, an essential oil used as a treatment for gynecological infections caused by different strains, one of which is the Candida albicans.

Older literature and research also claim that oregano essential oil can effectively reduce the symptoms of thrush. An individual with thrush who inhaled oregano oil as part of their aromatherapy showed drastic improvements. Dilute 3 drops of wild oregano oil in a carrier oil or water, then, pour the mixture into a diffuser and enjoy the scent.

However, be reminded that pure oregano oil extract should not be used orally and topically to avoid irritation and complications.
