Oregano Oil
Oregano oil (Origanum vulgare) is helpful in oral health because its anti-inflammatory properties fight bacterial and fungal infections and prevent inflammation of the gums and bleeding. In addition, oregano oil comprises essential anti-microbial elements, which are carvacrol and thymol, that can protect against toxins, hinder the growth of bacteria, and fight fungus infections like infected toenails, yeast infection, and oral thrush.
In its fresh and dried forms, oregano has a powerful antioxidant property that protects cells from free radicals leading to heart disease and cancer. Additionally, oregano essential oil can minimize oxidative damage and help avoid mutagenesis, carcinogenesis, and aging due to its radical scavenging action with a high concentration of antioxidants.
Free radicals are thought to have a role in developing several chronic illnesses, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, neurological disorders, and medication toxicity.
Though oregano is safe to use, it is important to consider its side effects to avoid unnecessary discomfort. If people feel they are allergic to mint, sage, basil, or lavender, they are probably allergic to oregano. It is not advisable to use for pregnant women to avoid uterine contraction that can affect the baby.
