Witch Hazel or Tea
Witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana) and the different teas—chamomile, black, or green tea— are well-known astringents with natural anti-aging, antimicrobial, anticarcinogenic, anti-inflammatory properties, thanks to their antioxidant-rich tannin content. It is also for this reason that they are excellent home remedies for sunburn.
Whether it is witch hazel, black tea, green tea, or chamomile tea, their antioxidant-rich tannin minimizes skin redness and inflammation. It also comes with natural antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, which help repair cell damage, improve wound healing, treat acne and other blemishes, hydrate the skin, and reduce scar formation, making it the perfect balm for skin damage caused by UVB rays.
To treat sunburned skin, soak a washcloth or cotton gauze in witch hazel or brewed black tea, green tea, or chamomile tea and apply it directly to the affected area for 15 to 20 minutes. Note that you shouldn’t use this treatment if you are allergic to pollen, as it may cause an allergic reaction in your skin.
