Saline Nasal Spray
Another way of introducing moisture to a stuffy nose would be through the use of a nasal spray. Similar to the neti pot, it uses a saline solution. However, some other sprays might contain decongestants and other substances, such as steroids and antihistamines, which aid to helps in clearing a stuffy nose. Some side effects, like a burning or stinging sensation within the nose, may occur.
Be careful not to over use nasal sprays. Once the nasal spray containing decongestants is overused, it can lessen its effectiveness due to the build-up of tolerance. As far as nasal spray is used, as indicated by the bottle, then there should be no problem that will occur. Some people should avoid nasal spray that has decongestants added to them, especially for those with high blood pressure, thyroid problems, and heart conditions. Decongestants can raise blood pressure and pulse rate, which can cause problems for people with these conditions.
