Raise the Head of Your Bed
Raising the head of the bed can help reduce snoring by allowing the natural fluid in the throat to drain. When a person is lying flat, there is little space for this fluid to drain, and it builds up, causing vibrations in the soft tissues and resulting in snoring. Raising the head end of the bed allows gravity to pull down on that fluid and more easily drain it from the throat.
This is not a home remedy that works overnight—the body takes time to adjust to changes in posture, so it’s best to raise your bed over a few weeks gradually. You can raise your bed by putting books underneath its legs or stacking phone books at either end. However, note that you don’t want to raise it too high; if you’re using books, stack them until they are even with your shoulders when you’re lying down on your back.
