Banana Peel
Banana peels, the outer covering of the fruit, have long been used as a natural remedy for various skin conditions. Skin tags, for example, are prone to developing around the neck and under the arms. They are benign growths that develop from excess skin and commonly appear in people who are in more humid climates.
In Latin America, where skin tags have become increasingly common due to high levels of humidity and obesity, banana peels have been used as an effective remedy for years. A study found that banana peel extract applied three times a day for four weeks was almost 50 percent effective at removing skin tags from test subjects.
While a chemical compound in banana peels called acetylcholinesterase can help remove a skin tag, it would take an incredibly large amount to be effective—the equivalent of three whole bananas. Therefore, dermatologists recommend using banana peels because they contain a much higher concentration of this chemical (about 100mg per gram) than raw bananas (about 1mg per gram).
