Excision
Excision is one of the most common methods of removing skin tags and has been used for many years. The cut is made directly above the base of the lesion and removes all of it. The wound is then closed using sutures or surgical glue to keep bacteria out and promote healing.
Before performing an excision procedure, it’s wise to know what to expect in terms of recovery time and results. In most cases, a single skin tag will not cause serious health problems and can be removed without much hassle. However, some rare side effects could occur after an excision. They include infection (which requires oral antibiotics), bleeding under the skin caused by an injury to a blood vessel during removal, and scarring if the incision doesn’t heal properly.
