Steam

The steam from a shower or hot bath can help to reduce sinus infection symptoms by opening the nasal passages. This causes a decrease in pressure on the sinus cavities and decreases the inflammation of the mucous membranes.

First, take a hot shower or bath. You can make it as hot as you can stand it. The steam will open your nasal passages and relieve pain associated with sinus infections. Add some eucalyptus or peppermint oil to your bath for added relief.

Then, after getting out of the shower or bath, pat yourself dry, but do not use any type of towel to dry off. Instead, let your body air dry while sitting comfortably in an upright position. This will allow the steam to continue penetrating through your nasal passages and also help loosen up any thick mucus that may be present in your nose and throat.

While in this position, bend forward and allow your head to hang down for about 5 minutes. This position will help to drain any thick mucus that may be stuck in your throat or sinuses.
