Humidifiers
Several adverse effects can affect one’s health if the air is arid, including but not limited to inflamed eyes and sinuses, respiratory disorders, and skin conditions. Researchers have shown that dry indoor air, particularly in places where air conditioning is present, can cause rough and dry skin. It may also worsen the symptoms of eczema, potentially lessen the suppleness of the skin and diminish the barrier function of the skin. Consequently, when an individual comes into touch with allergens or irritants, the skin may be more readily injured, resulting in symptoms like rashes.
Using a humidifier as a short-term treatment for a skin rashes, mainly if the rashes were caused or exacerbated by dry, cold air, can be an effective strategy to alleviate irritation. Small humidifiers can be used in single rooms, while larger ones can keep moisture in a larger space. It can be taken throughout the day or for shorter periods. Finally, the effectiveness of humidity is still dependent on the climate and skin condition. As a result, it is critical not to over-humidify the room, as this will result in mold survival and presence. The humidifier should be cleaned regularly as well.
