Pumpkin Seeds
Pumpkin seeds contain an anthelmintic compound called cucurbitacin. This compound helps to fight the fungus that causes pinworm and can speed up the healing process. In addition, pumpkin seeds are a rich source of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds, which can help to soothe the skin and reduce redness and irritation.
Cucurbitacin works by paralyzing the worm and then expelling it from the body through the digestive tract. There are no known side effects associated with cucurbitacin, making it a safe and effective treatment for pinworms. In addition, pumpkin seeds contain other effective compounds against parasites, including zinc and omega-3 fatty acids.
Pumpkin seeds can be consumed orally or topically applied to the affected area. For best results, it is recommended to consume one to two ounces of pumpkin seeds per day. To use them topically, crush the seeds into a powder and mix them with carrier oil such as olive oil or coconut oil. Place the cloth or gauze containing the pumpkin seeds over the affected area and leave it on for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Then, apply the mixture to the rash three to four times daily until symptoms improve.
