Balance Training

One complication brought by neuropathy is stiff muscles and joints. This occurs due to the restriction of the nerves from functioning properly. This condition can cause different pain levels, depending on the severity of the neuropathy. In addition, the damaged nerves cause disturbance to the signaling of pain and temperature. This conditions the muscles and joints to experience stiffness and spasm.

One remedy for a person suffering from neuropathy is balance training. The objective of balance training is to build strength and decrease the tightening of the nerves. Usually, balance training includes calf and leg raises. To do side legs, use a chair to steady the balance using a hand and stand straight while parting the feet apart. Slowly lift one leg and hold it for five to ten seconds. Lower the raised leg and repeat the process with the other leg. To do a calf raise, steady the balance using a chair. Lift the heels of both feet and slowly lower the body down. Repeat the steps for 10 to 15 repetitions.

Balance training can alleviate neuropathy symptoms due to the nerve reinforcement it gives. Damaged nerves can be reduced when each fiber’s well-built. As the balance improves, symptoms from neuropathy will lessen.
