Certain Positions
Nausea is also linked to how a person sits, sleep, or moves. It is also associated with poor posture and sudden movements. Patients experiencing nausea must avoid bending forward to lessen the pressure exerted on the stomach. This may improve the blood flow and help the muscles and body relax, alleviating symptoms of nausea. A recent study suggests that proper posture while walking and moving around is necessary to avoid recurring nausea among teens and young adults.
Another study highlights the importance of sitting upright, especially during and after meals, in improving digestion. In addition, proper sitting posture helps prevent disorders like diarrhea, belching, indigestion, and IBS, all related to nausea and dizziness. In relation to this, sudden and excessive movements may also worsen nausea, so the aim is always to have lesser and more calculated moves.
This may surprise many, but vomiting or throwing up actually provides instant relief. This is true among cases of nausea caused by digestive problems, motion sickness, too much alcohol intake, medications, and food poisoning.
