If you want to remember those food items that trigger menopause symptoms, you might want to keep a diary, associating the symptoms with the food. You can add notes like the symptoms and their severity so you can reduce or avoid their consumption.  

You might also notice that some activities can trigger menopause symptoms, so include them in your list. For example, a meeting at work could be a cause or doing your home chores, such as ironing. 

Avoiding trigger things and trigger foods to manage your hot flashes are not meant to cure them. However, doing so will make you comfortable. Some say that avoiding another after-dinner glass of wine helps prevent a hot flash while sleeping. 

Doctors also recommend avoiding heat, hot weather, tight clothing, and smoking. Since spicy foods generate heat, you should avoid eating them, too. Moreover, you should avoid getting too hot while exercising to reduce the possibility of a hot flash occurring.
