Use a Night Splint
A night splint or night brace is a device that looks similar to a sock or boot. It is designed to position the foot with the toes pointed up. This position helps treat heel pains like plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendinopathy. There are a lot of testimonies from experts and patients that backs up the effectiveness of night splint for short-term and long-term pain relief.
Since it is not advisable to wear a night splint while walking or moving around, bedtime is the most suitable time to wear a night brace. Experts advise new patients to try wearing it for an hour on the first night and then gradually increase the time each night. The goal is to wear the night splint for five to six hours daily to give the plantar fascia tissue time to heal and readjust.
The night splint should be worn every night until the patient has a minimum of seven pain-free mornings. This is an indication that the heel is already healed. On average, it took eight weeks for patients to eliminate heel pain.
