Fish Oil
Fish oil can also encourage hair growth by enhancing the blood sent to the hair follicles. The blood carries the nutrients the hair needs, which means better blood flow leads to healthier hair. Additionally, fish oil prevents hair fall by making hair stay longer on the scalp and grow. Hair growth occurs during the anagen stage, one of the four stages of hair growth.
Aside from that, a study in animals from 2018 shows that fermented mackerel oil lengthens the period when the hair stays in the anagen phase. However, there is still no evidence that the same applies to humans.
On the other hand, earlier clinical research conducted in 2015 shows that 120 female individuals consuming omega-6s and omega-3s manifest less hair time in the resting stage, or telogen. These substances in fish oil also raise the time spent by the hair in the growth stage.
Unlike the control group, individuals who had consumed the supplement for six months showed more growth and less hair loss. But, note that more research is still required to prove that fish oil helps with hair loss.
