Probiotics
Probiotics are microorganisms that impact the host’s health better when administered in enough doses. These advantages extend beyond essential nutrition to promote or repair gut flora, the bacteria in the human digestive system. Due to their potential to combat antibiotic-resistant bacteria in the mouth, probiotics are advantageous for oral health and can prevent gum bleeding.
Two probiotic species, S. Salivarous K12 and M18, can prevent an imbalance in the oral flora and an inflammatory response. They may also assist the immune system in protecting the mouth.
Some strains of probiotic bacteria may aid in managing gum disease-related inflammation. For example, a 2007 research revealed that supplement users who used a strain of Lactobacillus had reduced inflammation. Another study showed that regular use of probiotic milk reduces dental inflammation. Moreover, probiotics help lessen gingivitis symptoms by inhibiting bacterial growth and reducing swelling.
Yogurt, tempeh, kefir, cultured cottage cheese, and buttermilk are all excellent examples of foods that contain probiotics naturally. Fermented veggies like kimchi and sauerkraut and fermented drinks like kombucha are other great sources of beneficial bacteria.
