More Watery Foods
Eating foods rich in water is beneficial in treating symptoms of GERD. Water can dilute acids in the stomach. When diluted with water, these acids become less harmful. When symptoms of GERD, such as heartburn, begin, taking a few sips of water will reduce the pain and alleviate the burning sensation. The water neutralizes and dilutes the acid, bringing instant relief.
Drinking water at the later stages of the digestion process may reduce acidity and gastroesophageal reflux syndrome or GERD. It can also neutralize low pH and high acidity, which helps to relieve the burning sensation in the chest and throat. Experts claim that drinking water regularly provides instant relief by raising the pH level of the stomach, diluting the acidity, and clearing out the esophagus track.
Aside from increasing the daily water intake, foods with high water content should also be included in the patient’s diet. Some examples are celery, lettuce, tomato, zucchini, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, eggplant, spinach, and cucumbers. Fruits rich in water content, like mangoes, apples, blueberries, peaches, kiwis, pineapples, plums, melons, and watermelons, can also help. Eating broth-based soups and herbal teas will also do the trick.
