Living in a home with small children, pets, and especially dogs makes one of the family members more likely to contract pink eye (conjunctivitis). Pink eye is an infection that lines the eyelid, considered one of the most infectious eye ailments, and it can swiftly spread throughout the entire family. It may be more communicable when a virus causes it. On surfaces, the virus can live for up to two weeks. It can easily be transmitted to other people on the onset of its symptoms, and it continues to be contagious for up to 24 hours.
The issue will only worsen if a person uses and sleeps on the same pillowcases, mattress, or duvet contaminated with bacteria. Therefore, washing all the sheets and linens in hot water with detergent at least once a week should be one of the first things to do. In addition, towels and sheets should be cleaned as soon as possible to prevent further bacteria growth. After handling such objects, washing hands is advised.
