Lemon
One of the reasons why lemon makes for an effective home remedy for a dry throat is its ability to break up mucus. Like saltwater, lemon has antibacterial properties and helps with pain relief. It’s also why people sometimes squeeze some lemon into their teas, as it adds to the healing quality of tea in general. That said, it’s not a good idea to squeeze a lemon into saltwater and use it for gargling. More often than not, lemon and saltwater can help a dry throat separately rather than working together. It’s also not a good idea to drink warm lemonade if you’re suffering from a dry throat, as it could dry it out more.
The best thing to do is to squeeze some lemon juice into warm water and let the mixture soothe your throat as a drink. It’s a good idea not to get too carried away with lemon, as too much of anything isn’t good for the body. The acidity could end up hurting you more than it soothes your throat, which is why it’s best to only squeeze some lemon juice into a cup of warm water.
