Warm Compress
If you are looking for a quick and inexpensive way to treat and manage clogged ears at home, consider using a warm compress. Using the right water temperature and following the steps to the latter, a warm compress can help to clear the blockage and restore your hearing. All you need to perform a warm compress at home is a clean washcloth and hot water.
Apply a warm, wet cloth to the affected ear for 10 to 15 minutes several times daily. The heat will help to loosen the wax and allow it to drain out of the ear. Besides being an effective treatment for clogged ears, it also has the added benefit of relaxing the muscles in the head and neck. This simple treatment methodology will most likely clear clogged ears within a few days.
Taking a hot shower is also an excellent alternative to a warm compress. The steam from a hot shower will reach the affected ear and effectively melt the wax buildup.
