Humidifier
During the winter season, many tend to experience chapped lips. This happens because cold air is usually low on moisture, which makes the lips and other exposed parts of the body prone to drying and flaking. Cold air, after all, does not retain as much humidity as warm air. However, some would say that they have their heaters turned to near maximum, but they still experience skin drying and chapping of the lips.
The problem here is not the temperature but the humidity. Even when heaters are deployed inside a building or home during the winter, it does not increase humidity. The air in the room may have been warmed, but it is still the same dry air that was cold previously.
The solution is to turn on the humidifier or adjust it to generate enough moisture in a room. Even those with healthy skin can suffer from dryness and flaking when there is not much moisture in the atmosphere. On the other hand, it is unlikely for most people to have chapped lips and dry skin when the humidity is kept at the optimum settings.
