14 At-Home, All-Natural Remedies For Chapped Lips

Sugar

If the condition is not severe and the chapped lips do not have sores or wounds, exfoliation can be an option. Sometimes, what you have could be an aesthetic issue. There is no pain, swelling,  or other conditions involved, so all you need is to remove the unsightly chapping.

You can exfoliate your lips with a natural and edible product: table sugar. Sugar can be a good enough scrub to remove the detaching dead skin on the lips.

You can prepare a sugar scrub easily with the following ingredients: a tablespoon of sugar and a tablespoon of coconut oil or honey. Mix these ingredients without completely melting the sugar into the oil or honey. You need the roughness of the sugar granules for the scrub.

Once the mixture is ready, gently scrub it into your lips in a circular motion for around a minute. Do not do it vigorously to avoid unnecessarily causing wounds or cuts on the lips. After scrubbing, wipe off the mixture or wash it. If you still have chapped skin, you can repeat the process unless your lips are already irritated. Finally, apply lip balm or petroleum jelly to prevent the lips from drying.
