14 At-Home, All-Natural Remedies For Chapped Lips

Avocado Butter

Avocado butter is an excellent option for those looking for an edible home remedy for chapped lips. Avocado butter is a mixture of mashed avocado, unsalted butter, or some other unflavored edible emulsion. However, it means just the avocado itself. Either of which can be used to treat dry, chapped lips.

Avocado is naturally rich in plant oil containing more than 60% lipids, including monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids. It also contains oleic and linoleic acid, along with other powerful antioxidants. Studies suggest that avocado oils are easily absorbed by the skin, which makes them a good moisturizer additive. There are no known side effects.

To use avocado butter, you have to apply the mixture on your lips liberally. It cannot be a thin application, as there will not be enough oil to penetrate the lips. You must apply a generous amount and let it stand for five to ten minutes.

The downside of using avocado butter as a remedy for chapped lips may be its unpresentable appearance. However, you can easily lick it off after the treatment unless you have sores or wounds on your lips.
