Taking Turmeric
Turmeric is one of the most commonly used herbal remedies in Ayurvedic medicine because of its curcumin content. This yellow-orange cousin of ginger has potent anti-inflammatory properties, which help relieve the swelling that comes with cellulitis. It is also known for its high levels of antioxidants and for being antimicrobial.
There are many ways to use turmeric as a treatment. These include taking it raw or as a food additive, as a tonic, or as a topical cream.
Many have been consuming raw turmeric or adding it to dishes for its anti-inflammation, antibacterial, and antioxidant benefits. Research shows that the consumption of up to two grams of curcumin daily yields beneficial effects. This dose is equivalent to around 67 grams of raw turmeric.
As a tonic, turmeric is consumed hot or cold. The preparation usually requires ground turmeric, ginger, lemon, and some sweetener. Turmeric and water are already good enough, but some prefer to have other flavors in their tonic.
Lastly, turmeric can be a cellulitis treatment in topical cream or paste form. Ground turmeric is mixed with water or coconut oil to create a paste with a good enough consistency to make it easy to apply to the skin.
