Avoid Using of Drinking Straws
Many people have likely seen news reports on the harm that single-use plastic straws cause to the environment and marine life. In addition, using a straw could also be a real detriment to an individual’s health.
Carbonated drinks contribute a lot to burping, but research shows that drinking beverages through a straw adds to the problem.
Though straws make drinking fun and minimize tooth decay and staining, they may also cause a person to feel bloated, gassy, and uncomfortable. This is because drinking straw beverages get more air into the stomach. The number of air bubbles a person swallows will lead to burping and gas expulsion afterward. Any form of beverage taken through a straw increases the risk of ingesting extra air. The air will be inhaled along with the liquid when drinking using a straw leading to more stomach irritation, reflux, and other issues in the gastrointestinal tract.
Prevention of the health problems mentioned earlier is highly possible if a person avoids using straws and sips directly from the cup.
