Hydrogen Peroxide 

Hydrogen peroxide is a mild antiseptic solution that appears slightly blue and is more viscous than water. Commonly used to treat topical wounds, the compound is known to prevent infection and inflammation from developing due to its anti-inflammatory properties. Hydrogen peroxide is also used as a mouthwash to treat gingivitis and cold sores and remove mucus. 

Hydrogen peroxide releases oxygen on the infected area, producing foam that removes dead skin cells and cleans the immediate surroundings. This results in reddish skin devoid of bacteria or fungus that causes irritation and inconvenience. 

People living with athlete’s foot could treat the condition by directly applying hydrogen peroxide to the affected area. One can soak their feet in a mixture of equal parts water and hydrogen peroxide. If the person could take the burning and tingling sensation, they can either dab the solution using a cotton ball or directly pour it on the affected area. Whatever way the person chooses, the hydrogen peroxide will disinfect the site and make it as clean as possible. It also removes the stink accompanying the condition, eliminating bacteria that cause the malodorous smell.
