Limiting Caffeine
You’ll find that when it comes to treating anxiety with home remedies, it’s less about the different concoctions you try and more about limiting specific habits. For example, while not everyone smokes or drinks, a large percentage of people consume caffeine. Similar to smoking and alcohol, caffeine can also help soothe an anxious mind, especially at the beginning. However, an anxiety disorder has a habit of getting worse the more caffeine you take. So while coffee can be a surprisingly beneficial wellness product for heart health and various other body functions, there comes a point when it makes anxiety symptoms worse.
Those who consume too much caffeine are usually jittery and restless, which are also symptoms of anxiety. However, a 2018 study shows that caffeine makes the body more alert by blocking adenosine, a chemical in the brain that helps the body wind down and feel tired. While this alertness can be advantageous in some situations, fighting anxiety is challenging if you regularly take coffee.
A good idea would be to limit caffeine intake, but not necessarily deprive yourself, especially if coffee is a part of your routine. It isn’t quite like smoking, where it’s recommended you quit entirely.
