12 Home Remedies For Acne: The Natural Treatment List

Witch Hazel

The hazel shrub, Hamamelis virginiana, found in North America, has leaves where witch hazel can be extracted.

Currently, there is limited research concerning witch hazel and its ability to treat acne. Though among these studies, one study followed a few individuals and the effects of using a facial treatment twice a day for six weeks. One step in the study used witch hazel as an additive in the treatment. Most of the participants saw an improvement in their acne by the end.

In a different study, it was proposed that witch hazel may have properties that help reduce bacteria and ease skin irritation that could cause acne.

In a small pan, add one tablespoon of witch hazel bark in a cup of water, mixing until combined. Afterward, let the mixture sit for about 30 minutes, and then let boil. Leave to simmer and cook while covered for ten minutes. Next, cool for an extra ten minutes before straining and transfer the liquid into a separate container. Lastly, apply the mixture to the skin using a cotton ball one to two times a day.
