Pay Attention to Your Posture
To treat hiatal hernia, an individual should pay attention to their posture. For example, they should not slouch, hunch their shoulders, or cross their legs. Also, the sitting position should be the same, whether standing or sitting. They should avoid leaning forward, backward, or to either side when standing upright so that there is no strain on the abdominal muscles or diaphragm muscle which control the opening into the chest cavity (called a hiatus).
In addition, they should also make sure that their body is aligned correctly. This means they should not tilt forward at the waist or slump in their chair. Their back should be straight, and their head should look straight ahead when standing or sitting upright.
