Green Tea
Widely considered a healthy beverage, green tea has high antioxidant content that may have various health benefits. For starters, it can improve the ability of the brain to function. Caffeine is one of its vital active ingredients, which can block adenosine, inhibitory neurotransmitters. Doing so enhances the concentration of many other neurotransmitters like norepinephrine and dopamine. Moreover, research has continuously shown caffeine improves specific brain function aspects, including memory, reaction time, and vigilance.
In addition, green tea’s antioxidant properties help lower the risks of developing different cancers, from breast and prostate to colorectal cancer. Observational studies also indicate that those who drink green tea regularly are at a reduced risk of getting cancer. It may also prevent diabetes, as the beverage might lower blood glucose and enhance insulin sensitivity. However, more studies are required to confirm these effects.
Older research also indicates green tea reduces inflammation and has anti-hepatitis properties. But evidence also attributes many instances of liver damage to the extract of green tea. As such, people with hepatitis should talk to their doctors before consuming these product types, or it may lead to symptoms of liver disease, such as jaundice, abdominal pain, and dark urine.
