Pregnancy
As a woman’s body undergoes many changes during pregnancy, it’s not uncommon to develop hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids are often caused by increased pressure within the abdomen, resulting from eating a diet high in fiber or lifting heavy objects.
During the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, they’ll be most susceptible to developing hemorrhoids because of the growing size of their uterus. There’s also an increase in blood flow in the body, which can cause pain and bleeding when combined with hemorrhoids.
However, even though developing these uncomfortable symptoms is more likely during pregnancy due to hormone changes and increased circulation throughout the body, they’re generally treatable with over-the-counter medications such as witch hazel wipes or hydrocortisone creams.
