Liver-related Diseases
Liver-related diseases can be a cause of hemorrhoids. Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver caused by viral or bacterial infections, which can result in jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes). In some cases, liver cancer may cause bleeding from the anus.
Cirrhosis is another condition that arises when scar tissue replaces healthy cells in the liver, leading to severe scarring and, eventually, organ failure. Alcoholism is also a risk factor for cirrhosis and other manifestations that may lead to inflammation or bleeding from anal veins.
A person may get hemorrhoids from liver disease because the blood circulation in the body becomes impaired, making it harder for the veins to carry blood back up to the heart. This can lead to varicose and hemorrhoidal veins, which are chronic problems that require surgery or other medical procedures.
