15 Common Causes of Heat Intolerance You Shouldn’t Ignore

Neurological Issues

Neuromuscular and neurological disorders are also common causes of heat intolerance. These conditions can include headaches, dizziness, fainting, and weakness in the extremities.

The underlying cause may be a viral or bacterial infection, or it may be due to a brain tumor or other neurological condition such as multiple sclerosis or Parkinson’s disease. Some patients with these conditions will have a fever when they become overheated. Others do not show any signs of infection until they have had extreme heat exposure for several days. In addition, heat stroke has been associated with blood clots in the brain in some cases and sudden cardiac arrest caused by low blood pressure.

Heat stroke is a medical emergency that can be fatal if not treated immediately. It occurs when the body’s temperature control system fails, and internal temperatures rise, usually above 104 degrees Fahrenheit. When this happens, the brain becomes damaged and can cause permanent disability or death.
