Certain Foods
Certain foods can cause heat intolerance. These include foods high in histamines, salicylates, tyramine, phenylethylamine, and biogenic amines.
Histamines are chemicals produced by the body. They can also be found in certain foods like cheese or fermented products such as wine or beer. People sensitive to histamines might feel uncomfortable eating these types of food because their blood vessels dilate, making them feel hot and flushed. To avoid this reaction by taking an antihistamine for about half an hour before consuming any food items containing high levels of histamine (such as fish).
Salicylates can cause heat intolerance when consumed at high levels. Therefore, for those with chronic headaches, it may be best not to eat foods containing salicylates until symptoms subside. However, if they should be no concern, it’s alright to consume small amounts.
