Leads to Better Sleep
Fermented beverages such as kombucha contain traces of alcohol and caffeine, which is a byproduct of the process. The presence of probiotics and antioxidants allows people to balance the microorganisms inside their intestinal tract leading to better overall health. Good gut health means there wouldn’t be untimely trips to the washroom, which could affect the circadian rhythm. The faster and more efficient the body eliminates waste products the better the general body condition becomes.
Although a serving of kombucha contains only 15mg of caffeine, it isn’t advisable to drink it before you go to bed as your body may respond differently to the brew. Drinking homemade kombucha and healthy eating habits promote good stomach and intestinal health. This leads to a lesser chance of gastrointestinal disruptions that could lead to frequent nighttime visits to the toilet, which disturbs the sleep pattern. Research from Japan’s University of Tsukuba stressed the importance of combining the beverage with a healthy diet to maximize the effect on sleep.
