Dissolves Kidney Stones
Kidney stones are also referred to as nephrolithiasis. They are irregular-shaped crystals or mineral deposits formed in a person’s kidney. Kidney stones come in different sizes, from as small as a grain of sand to something as large as a ping-pong ball. No matter what the size is, kidney stones can be excruciating. Drinking loads of water can help pass small kidney stones through the urinary tract. However, large kidney stones can get stuck in the ureter and may require surgery.
A recent study by a group of Chinese researchers found that green tea extract can dissolve large kidney stones. They explained that kidney stones contain calcium oxalate, and they found out that green tea extract has the ability to bond with it. The bond between green tea compounds and calcium oxalate can prevent the clumping or bonding of tiny crystals and can potentially break down large stones. The smaller stones can then pass through the ureters without undergoing surgery.
