Eliminate Free Radicals
Free radicals are molecules with an uneven number of electrons. They are unstable and highly reactive, which means they can cause damage to the cell membranes, proteins, and DNA by snatching their electrons. They can cause cell mutation leading to several diseases and complications. Fortunately, antioxidants can neutralize free radicals.
Chia seeds are rich in antioxidants which can fix the oxidative stress and cell damage caused by free radicals. Studies have shown that eating food rich in antioxidants (e.g., seeds and blueberries) can lessen the risk of developing severe health problems. A study conducted in 2019 examined the effects of chia seeds on people suffering from cognitive decline, cardiovascular issues, and cancer. The results showed the promising potential that chia seeds exhibit in the ability to eliminate free radicals.
