Growing research has claimed that a single ounce of chia seeds has almost 20% of the amount of calcium needed by the body in a day. Chia seeds are also referred to as tiny powerhouses that can help prevent osteoporosis. In addition, several observational studies tested the relationship between the consumption of chia seeds and increased bone density, and the results are impressive. Animal trials also supported the claim that chia seeds can strengthen bones and increase bone mineral content.
However, most of the studies about this topic involved animals and small groups of human participants. Therefore, further studies on the effect of chia seeds on human bones are still needed.
