In the US alone, more than a third of all adults are getting less than the seven hours of regular sleep people require within a twenty-four-hour period. Moreover, over seventy percent of high schoolers report getting insufficient rest on weeknights.
People occasionally experience sleeping issues because of stress, outside influences, and hectic schedules. However, when these problems happen regularly and begin interfering with your daily life, they could lead to a sleeping disorder. Therefore, it’s crucial to be diagnosed and treated right away because if it’s left unchecked, there’s a chance that it may lead to serious health consequences down the line. For example, those deprived of sleep may hallucinate, increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease, obesity, diabetes, stroke, and elevated blood pressure.
Sleeping disorder treatments can vary based on the underlying cause and its severity. However, in most cases, it usually involves either lifestyle changes or medications. Some drugs you may be given for these disorders are sleeping pills and melatonin.
