Pulling Hair too Tightly
It’s acceptable to wear the hair tightly pulled back occasionally, but it’s best to refrain from doing so every day. Hair strands may break or fall out due to the frequent straining. In addition, the hair follicles may eventually become damaged from constant pulling. If the hair follicles are already damaged, they won’t come back, which might also result in hair loss.
Twisting the hair firmly can also cause hair breakage at the crown (or hairline) and where the elastic keeps it up, whether pulling it into a sloppy bun, topknot, or ponytail. Giving some TLC to the hair is not that hard, and using specific ties like elastic is one act of showing care.
Trichotillomania, often known as a hair-pulling disorder, is a mental illness that causes someone to want to pull the hair out of the head. Even when there are bald spots, it might be challenging to stop.
Hairstyles that pull on the hair excessively include braided tightly, cornrows, dreadlocks, extensions, and hair waves. Dermatologists advise only using rollers in styling the hair on special occasions because doing so frequently might cause hair breakage and hair loss.
