Green Vegetables
One prevalent cause of green stools is a dietary change or consumption of green leafy vegetables. The chlorophyll found in dark green veggies and green powder supplements is the molecule that permits plants to create energy from the sun. Therefore, consuming them in large quantities may cause green feces, although this does not indicate a health problem.
Green vegetables and fruits contain chlorophyll pigment, which gives plants and algae their green hue. Green foods, such as spinach, kale, broccoli, bok choy, green peppers, etc., may contribute to the green stool when consumed in high quantities. Furthermore, certain foods include food coloring that is improperly prepared. This may also leave a colored residue in the feces.
It is “totally natural and healthy” to produce green diarrhea after eating vegetables. Additionally, it is not necessary for the food coloring ingested to be green for the feces to be green. Purple, blue, and black food colors may also cause green feces.
Chlorophyll is also abundant in nuts like pistachios, hemp seeds, and plants like parsley, basil, and cilantro. Matcha, a powdered green tea, may also give feces a vivid green tint.
