Celiac Disease and Food Sensitivity

Celiac disease, also named gluten-sensitive enteropathy or celiac sprue, is an immune reaction that happens when a person eats gluten. Gluten is a protein and allergen usually found in grains such as wheat, rye, and barley. 

Consuming gluten will cause an immunological reaction in the small intestine of a person who has celiac disease. This response, when left unchecked, will, over time, cause damage to the lining of your small intestine and prevent it from absorbing certain nutrients or malabsorption.

It may result in a wide range of gastrointestinal symptoms, including cramping in the stomach, diarrhea, bloating, and gas. It’s possible that having celiac disease can cause the patient to have green stools in addition to diarrhea or loose stools.

Furthermore, other food sensitivities, such as lactose intolerance, cause a reaction in the digestive system triggering a response in the immune system. This induces symptoms, including diarrhea and nausea, if the patients are exposed to the type of food they are allergic to. These allergic responses to food might create green feces because of undigested bile, just like any other health issue that causes diarrhea.
