Penile Discoloration and Swelling
Urination, sexual activity, and fertility depend on a healthy penis. Because of the increased blood flow to the penis’ blood vessels and glands during sexual stimulation, the penis may take on a ruddy, almost purple color. This is because of the increased blood flow. But there are more dangerous causes that could be responsible for the change in color of the penis. Alterations in the color of the penis can be an indicator of sexually transmitted diseases. Gonorrhea and other sexually transmitted infections can cause purple lesions on the penis. Pain, itching, burning, tiredness, and fever are other symptoms accompanying them.
On the other side, an enlarged penis can disrupt these functions and needs to be treated accordingly. The amount of lymphatic fluid and blood drained from the body affects the size of the penis. The swelling can indicate that drainage of one of these chemicals is not taking place as it should be. In some cases, the skin of the penis can swell up as well. If the penis is swollen, it is difficult to urinate or engage in sexual activity.
