Bleeding Between Periods
Most women will experience spotting between their periods at some point. However, in most cases, there is no need to be concerned about it. “Spotting” refers to a light flow of blood. In contrast, “bleeding between periods” refers to any bleeding that occurs after or before the period begins. When this happens, a person may find that their underwear has light brown spotting or a heavy flow comparable to their period. It can be caused by various factors, including sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) like gonorrhea.
Any vaginal bleeding outside a woman’s regular period is referred to as bleeding between periods. The bleeding that occurs between periods may resemble that of a recurring period, it may be heavier and result in a more extensive blood loss, or the blood loss may be very light. The bleeding between periods may be a one-time occurrence or continue for several days. Gonorrhea is an infectious agent that leads to an infection along the vaginal walls, leading to bleeding. In addition to occurring between periods, bleeding can also happen before sexual activity, while it is taking place, and after it.
