Pain During Sexual Intercourse
Both men and women are susceptible to experiencing painful intercourse, although women are far more likely to share it. The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) estimates that up to 20 percent of American women suffer from it at some point. In most cases, there is a well-defined cause of why a woman is suffering discomfort during sexual activity. Infectious disorders that can be transferred sexually, such as gonorrhea, are among the contributing factors. Some result in swelling, discomfort, or discharge in the immediate area. This results in distress in the vaginal region, particularly when urinating, during sexual activity, and itching in the vaginal area.
Most of the time, a woman will experience either discomfort upon entry or profound pain during sexual activity. Additionally, some females report that even light vaginal contact causes them agony. These include not having enough lubrication, being stressed, and even having a history of being sexually abused. Quite a few of these challenges are amenable to treatment or at least to some degree of relief when combined with the appropriate strategies, therapies, and amounts of time. However, it is essential to first rule out medical conditions as possible causes of dyspareunia.
